5 of the most expensive watches in the world

It’s no secret that watch collecting can be an expensive hobby. Even the cheapest Rolex (the Oyster Perpetual) comes in at over $5,000. But just how expensive can it get?

We’ve compiled a list of the 5 most expensive timepieces in the world – we're talking millions, not thousands of dollars. Often they’re one of a kind, so it’s no surprise they come with such hefty price tags. We’d love to know which you’d choose if you had the choice...

5. Patek Philippe Worldtimer Guilloché - $5.5m

In a 2020 auction by Phillips in Geneva, this rare timepiece sold for $5,553,000. This watch was manufactured in 1954 and has an 18k pink gold case. Only 4 of these were ever made, making it one of the rarest and most sought-after watches to exist.

4. Rolex Daytona White Gold Ref. 6265 ‘Unicorn’ - $6.1m

This white chronograph was another sold by Phillips in their Geneva auction, this time in 2018. This Rolex was sold for $5,937,000 and today’s value is estimated at $6,119,000. The watch, nicknamed ‘Unicorn’, is the only known white gold vintage Daytona in the entire world.

3. Jacob & Co. ‘Billionaire Watch’ - $18m

With over 189 carats of Akosha diamonds, it is easy to see why this Jacob & Co watch is nicknamed the ‘Billionaire Watch’. This watch’s owner certainty lives up to the name, as it belongs to Floyd Mayweather, and is estimated to be worth $18,000,000.

2. Rolex Paul Newman Daytona - $18.7m

This watch sold at auction for $18,700,000 in just 12 minutes. It was commissioned in 1968 for Actor Paul Newman by his wife, and she even had the watch engraved with the words ‘Drive Carefully’.

1. Graff Diamonds Hallucination - $55m

Saving the best till last, and certainly the most expensive... this watch, made up of 110 different coloured diamonds took thousands of hours to make and comes with a whopping $55,000,000 price tag! Each diamond is cut by a team of designers and experts. With such a unique look it's easy to see why it took so long to create.
